 Susan Aston, Art Instructor

Susan Aston is in her fourth year as an Art teacher at Rockwall-Heath High School.  Since the school opened in the fall of 2005, the art program has grown at a rapid pace and has expanded by including 2 AP Studio Art Programs along with 2 Pre-AP level classes.  The Art department has also increased by having two Art teachers that combined service over 300 Art I students.  The Art department also includes 2 Advanced Drawing classes and a Ceramics class.   Prior to teaching in Rockwall, Mrs. Aston taught Art in Richardson ISD.  Mrs. Aston also painted children’s mural professionally, taught children’s summer Art camps, and private lessons before entering the public teaching field. Mrs. Aston graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of North Texas.  She is a member of the National Art Educators Association and the Texas Art Educators Association.  Her husband of almost 20 years, Mark Aston, is the General Manager at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine.  They have with 3 children, Brooke, 14, who plays Volleyball and is in Pre-AP Art at Rockwall High School, Peyton, 12, who plays guitar, soccer, and attends Cullins Lake Pointe Elementary and Brady, who is almost 2.    

Karen Tucker, Art Instructor

Karen Tucker is in her 2nd year with the Fine Arts Dept. at Rockwall Heath High School. Mrs. Tucker teaches Art I, Ceramics and Drawing II, III, IV. Prior to moving into the Fine Arts Dept., she spent 6 ½ years in RISD in the Special Education Department.

Mrs. Tucker was the Department Chair for the Special Education Department for Rockwall Heath High School and assisted in the opening of the school. Mrs. Tucker holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Harding University, in Searcy, Arkansas. Prior to becoming a teacher, Mrs. Tucker was in the sales and marketing field for textbooks and instructional materials in Texas and Arkansas. A constant creator, she also has designed her own line of handbags and biblecovers. She has also worked in the interior design industry, as well.

When not in the classroom, Mrs. Tucker stays busy spending time with her family, watching her two daughters, Kristen, who plays collegiate golf and Allie, who participates in High School Rodeo.
